This is not a diet. It’s a simple way to lose weight. And you don’t even have to give up the food you love or join a gym. You just follow some habits that thin people have. Keep them, and you’ll become thin.

  (1) Wake-up

When you wake up in the morning, sit up slowly without using your hands. With legs straight out, bend (弯曲) forward until you feel sore in your back. It will burn about 10 calories (热量单位:卡路里).

  (2) Start with soup

When you have a meal, order a clear soup, and have it before having the main food. In this way, you’ll feel fuller, so you’ll eat less when the main food comes.

  (3) An apple(or more)a day

Apples are full of fiber (纤维) and water, so your stomach will want less food. The study shows that people who eat at least three apples a day lose weight.

  (4) Stand up and walk around

Every time you use the mobile phone, stand up and walk around. Heavy people sit on average (平均) two and a half hours more each day than thin people. This skill is very important, as standing up and walking around will burn 50 or more calories.

  Passage Two

Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford, England on 8th January, 1942. He went to school in St. Albans—a small city near London. Although he did well, he was never top of his class. After leaving school, Hawking went first to Oxford University where he studied physics, then he went to Cambridge University where he studied cosmology. As he himself admits, he didn't work hard. He was a very lazy student, and did very little work. However, he still got good marks.

It was at the age of 20 that Hawking first noticed something was wrong with him. He started to bump(撞上)into things. When he visited his family at Christmas time, his mother was so worried that she made him see a doctor. Hawking was sent to hospital for tests. Finally, the result came back. Hawking had motor neurone disease, an incurable illness which would make him unable to speak, breathe or move without the help of a machine. Doctors said they had no way to help him. He would die before he was 23.

At first, Hawking became very sad. After a while, though, he began to see his life in a different way. As he later write, “Before my illness was diagnosed(诊断), I had been very bored with life. There had not seemed to be anything worth doing. But shortly after I came out of hospital, I suddenly realized that there were a lot of worthwhile things I could do.” Hawking married, found a job at Cambridge University, and had three children. He also went on to do some of the most important scientific research.

Today, Hawking still works at Cambridge University as a professor. He strongly believes that his story shows that nobody, how bad their situation is, should lose hope. “Life is not fair,”he once said. “You just have to do the best you can in your own situation.”

  【写作范文】

Will Network Classrooms Replace Traditional Classrooms?

With the popularization of the Internet, network classrooms are gaining more and more popular. Some people propose one question: will network classrooms replace traditional classrooms?

As to this question, the opinions vary from one to another. Some people think it quite possible for network classrooms to take the place of traditional classrooms. Because network classrooms needn’t have face-to-face communication and are not limited by time and place, which facilitates both teachers and students. However, many people have opposite standpoints. They say that with online courses, students lack direct communications with teachers and their confusion cannot be solved instantly.

Personally, both network classrooms and traditional classrooms are necessary for students. If traditional teaching patterns and network classrooms can be combined together, more fruitful education is sure to be realized.
